In conclusion, in Romagna both in Etruscan-Villanovan Verucchio and among the Italics, the warrior ideal
represented one of the most important ideological components of the community. The elite’s celebration of
the warrior chief role during a funeral became a fundamental moment for legitimizing power.
Therefore, to achieve this goal it was not sufficient to place the deceased together with his weapons, but
rather it was necessary to emphasize the value of the weapons themselves through a careful organization of
the internal areas of the tomb and the various actions that preceded the closing of the grave. Despite the considerable
ethnic, chronological, and cultural differences, the need for self-affirmation of the dominant classes
led to similar solutions in the management of weapons during the funerary rite, with a distinct separation
between the weapons that indicated the role and gender of the deceased and the ones that stressed his rank.
