Auf dem Weg zu einer hegemonialen Weiblichkeit?

Abstrakt

Changes in gender relations are accompanied by discussions about the adequacy of available theoretical instruments. A particularly interersting contribution from the recent past, published by Sylka Scholz, suggests that in the face of an increasing number of women taking positions of leadership and power in society, the gender theoretic concept of "hegemonic masculinity" (Connell) should be supplemented by a concept of "hegemonic femininity". This article discusses and critically analyses the concept as elaborated by Scholz. It can be shown that both concept and theoretical justification suffer on account of several blind spots as well as ideological biased associated with contemporary gender equality.
